Sharing Generative Impacts

MSR Design has designed dozens of certified high-performing projects, including our Living Building Challenge Petal certified studio and two LEED Platinum projects. We received an AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) Top Ten Award for the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center. In 2007, MSR Design became the first Minnesota firm to commit to the 2030 Challenge. We model and report predicted energy use intensity (pEUI) across all active projects annually for the AIA 2030 Commitment. We use life cycle assessment tools to evaluate the embodied carbon of building structures, envelopes, and interiors early in design and prioritize lower-carbon materials. Recognizing that the architecture profession must evolve quickly to create a more sustainable building industry, we share research, design innovations, and sustainable design successes on our Generative Impacts web page. In 2018, MSR Design signed the AIA Materials Pledge, committing to prioritizing health, transparency, and environmental stewardship in the selection of building materials. In addition to carbon modeling, we are leaders in working with manufacturers to document their products.

Sustainable, Equitable, Healthy, and Beautiful Projects

MSR Design creates transformative and human-centric, award-winning architecture and interior design. Since 1981, our firm has produced work of enduring value: buildings that are expressly right for their time and place and that culturally and physically age gracefully. We tailor our design solutions to each client, resulting in a diverse mix of sustainable, equitable, healthy, beautiful projects.
